Wilmington Early College High School
Wilmington Early College High School was established through a partnership between New Hanover County Schools and Cape Fear Community College to provide students with an opportunity to earn an Associate's Degree along with their high school diploma. WECHS is a four to five year program where students engage in a rigorous academic curriculum of honors and college-level coursework. Our expectation is that all of our students will graduate with both their Associate's and their diploma, making our program truly "A Degree Above." The school is located on the North campus of Cape Fear Community College.
The faculty and staff of WECHS support this mission and fulfill its' purposes by: Recruiting, enrolling, advising and retaining a diverse student body, evaluating existing programs and implementing innovative practices to serve the changing needs of the student population. Providing multi-tiered support services that help students succeed academically and socially. Enhancing student life through clubs, leadership opportunities, and community involvement. Empowering students to pursue their passions. Encouraging students to exhibit ethical behavior in and out of the classroom. Aiding students in the development of effective communication and critical thinking skills
